On April 13, 2016, a series of lectures on oil and gas production “Days of coiled tubing and hydraulic fracturing in Poltava”, organized for students obtaining degrees in oil & gas as well as experienced engineers working at gas production and service companies of Central and North-Eastern regions of Ukraine, took place in the Poltava National Technical University (PNTU). The PNTU was chosen as a venue as it holds leading positions in training future oil & gas experts in Ukraine. First majors in oil & gas equipment engineering were established at the university more than 20 years ago. Over the last 60 years, thousands of highly skilled employees graduated from the PNTU and have been successfully working in the oil & gas industry in many countries around the world.
The Chancellor of the Poltava National Technical Yuri Kondratyuk University, Volodymyr Onishchenko, welcomed participants of the event and noted that among the guests there were heads of the leading oil and gas companies, including scientific and technical enterprise “Burova technika”, LLC [Drilling equipment], Oil & Gas consulting center “Newfolk”, Joint Stock Company “Ukrgazvydobuvannya “, Production Association “Belorusneft”, Joint Venture Company “Poltava Petroleum company” and NOV-Fidmash.
“For many years, we have been working closely with the Poltava National Technical University and getting a great support from it. We will continue to invite people to conduct lectures on coiled tubing technologies that would help develop oil and gas industry in Ukraine, optimize oil and gas production and ensure Ukraine’s energy independence. Other than fracking and coiled tubing equipment, we introduce new technologies, including cluster drilling and sidetrack blocks installation at greater depths“, noted the CEO of the service company “Burova technika”, LLC, Deputy Chairman of the Drillers Association of Ukraine Vitaliy Vitryk.
Andriy Zakrevskyi, CEO of the Consulting Center “Newfolk” and NOV-Fidmash representative, spoke about coiled tubing equipment and hydraulic fracturing fleets.
“Both Ukrainian engineers and companies’ managers should benefit from the opportunity to talk with Belarusian colleagues who managed to preserve oil and gas industry in their country; but the most important is that the event is held in the Poltava National Technical University that trains future oil and gas specialists “, added Andriy Zakrevskyi.
Anatoliy Pavlenko, Chancellor of the PNTU spoke about Oil & Gas Faculty. He pointed out high quality of training future experts at the university, as PNTU graduates work in leading exploration, drilling, production, transporting and processing Oil & Gas enterprises and hold management positions at some of them.
Among invited lecturers there were operating unit employees of “Belorusneft” and the Belarusian Oil Research and Design Institute, Sergiy Kuzub and Kyrylo Myronenko.
Gennadiy Kulynych, representative of the Joint Venture “Poltava Petroleum Company”, reported on the largest hydraulic fracturing in Ukraine and its management experience. Professors of the Oil & Gas College at the PNTU, Yulia Dyachenko and Alexander Usenko, made a presentation on the place of coiled tubing technologies and hydraulic fracturing in the modern services market.
Chancellor of the PNTU, Professor Volodymyr Onishchenko and CEO of “Burova technika”, LLC Vitaly Vitryk emphasized the importance of introducing new technologies for domestic oil and gas production development as well as training qualified specialists for oil & gas industry.
During the event, the Chancellor of the PNTU Volodymyr Onishchenko and the Director of the Scientific and research Institute of oil and gas of «Naftogaz of Ukraine» Oleksiy Stogniy signed a cooperation agreement. Oleksiy Stogniy donated textbooks and other professional books on oil and gas to the scientific and technical library of the PNTU.
The event was attended by 87 engineers, mechanics, scientists and representatives of oil and gas companies of Ukraine. Among the companies that joined the lectures, there were fracking and coiled tubing customers – SJSC “Ukrgazvydobuvannya”, represented by its subsidiary “Ukrburgaz” and leading private companies: PJSC “Naftogazvydobuvannya”, JV “Poltava Petroleum Company” , LLC, “KUB-Gas”, LLC, “Ukrhazvydobutok”, LLC, “ESCO-PIVNICH” and others. Service companies “Ukrburservis”, LLC, “Region”, LLC and others attended the event as potential contractors.
The PNTU cooperates with gas production and service companies that operate in the fields within Poltava, Kharkiv, Sumy and Chernihiv regions. During the event, participants were presented educational and scientific unit for oil and gas with operating modern technological equipment and software to control systems automatically. They also visited the Department for oil and gas equipment, where they got to have a look at the educational laboratory containing units and components of drilling and oilfield equipment.
One of the main objectives of the PNTU is to train highly qualified engineers at international level to help develop modern oil and gas industry in Ukraine.
